Carnaby Street is one of London’s most treasured pedestrianised streets and a much loved spot for street performers.
However a regular Carnaby Street busker, Damon Valentine, told Street’s Got Talent to warn buskers from playing here. He said: “I was asked to move by a security guard and his boss, who was quite intimidating. He handed me a sheet of paper with a warning of a £500 fine and said if I was caught playing there again he would fine me. They initially saw me on the security cameras and told me it’s a new initiative by Westminster Council to stop buskers on Carnaby Street only.”
We have been unable to find any more information so far or a receive comment from Westminster Council. We will keep you posted when we hear more details.
